WHAT A GREAT MOVIE DAY WE HAD ON FRIDAY!!! Was such a lovely last day together!
Next Friday, my last day, we will be having a relaxed day to enjoy our last day together. 2nd block we will be playing board games...if your son/daughter has a board game that they want to bring in, please send it to school with their name on it. In the afternoon, we will be watching Despicable Me with Ms. Mongeon's class (as it is her last day as well). Students are invited to wear pyjamas and bring in their "stuffies" and an extra treat. This will be a nice way to enjoy our last day together and end January (which has been a very cold month) all nice a cozy warm!
TOMORROW (Friday), MRS. DEAN IS TREATING US TO MONKEY BREAD! WE WILL BE MAKING IT WITH HER 2ND BLOCK! MRS. DEAN AND I DECIDED THAT THEY ARE QUITE DESERVING! THEY HAVE REALLY BEEN WORKING HARD SINCE SEPTEMBER AND IT'S ABOUT TIME WE GET TO MONKEY AROUND!!!
Who's BEAN working hard?
Wanted to let you know about our JELLY BEAN challenge! In class, each student has a print out of a jelly bean on the side of their desk. If they are caught doing great work, etc. they put their jelly bean up on the board. If their jelly bean is there by the end of the day, they get a real jelly bean as a prize! The kids LOVE it and it's really a great way to get them working hard!!
Mr. Green
We have really been working on editing our work. When we do this, we use a green crayon for "green to grow". We now have a mascot, Mr. Green, who gets a hug if one if the students has shown great growth!!

Hello WONDERFUL parents! :)
Just wanted to give you a quick update about January so far! Kids came back nice and rested and we have completed SO much already! Routines were RIGHT back to the way they were left off! I am so proud of them; they are all working SO hard! We have been doing A LOT of journal writing and I am seeing a ton of progress so far. Please when you are doing WWW's at night, make sure that your child isn't just writing the word but rather reading it and understanding when to use the word. In math, we are well on our way in our measurement unit. Today we got in pairs and measured each other's feet using snap cubes and then compared foot sizes! We will be measuring area starting shortly! In language, we are working on an assessment piece for descriptive writing. We have MASTERED adjectives!! :) In science, our research assignments are well on their way. The kids are super interested in learning about their animal. We will be completing the booklet, doing a mini oral presentation and comparing each others' animals. In music, we have introduced instruments and used them to demonstrate the rhythm and the beat-this was fun!! In phys.ed, we are still working on basketball skill and yoga. This week STARR* GYMNASTICS is at our school and we will be learning gymnastics tomorrow! In health, we are discussing healthy eating habits and having a ton of fun with Power to Play! We have been doing Fully Alive and we are learning all about growing up!
YAY, January is a blast so far and we are working so hard!!

Dear Parents,
Today in science we started our first research project! I have explained to the students that research means "finding important information". Together, we researched animals using books and animal encyclopedias in order to find an animal of interest for each student. Each student has chosen 1 animal to do their project on and we have begun our "booklet" with a title page today. Below you will find a list with the animal your son/daughter has chosen...
With your son/daughter at home, please google search what their animal does in the winter (hibernates, relocates, or adapts) and print off (or write down) a couple points about that so they can bring it school to use for their booklet. They will add it to their research bag (which we are keeping in class). We will also be taking out the IPads to do some research but it will help them if they have prior research done where more time can be spent on this at home! Thanks for your cooperation once again!
Jordan- penguins
Brynn- squirrels
Kathleen- turtles
Annie- bats
Ethan- raccoons
Mesiah- snakes
Sami- bears
Linus- Lemurs
Olivia- Owls
Kiarra- Birds (swallows)
Phoenix- Whales
Luca- two-headed snakes
Julien- snakes
Lucas- frogs
Davein- crocodiles
Cristianos- frogs
Ella- birds
***When you google search the animal, all we need to find out is "what it looks like" and "what that specific animal does in the winter". (hibernate, migrate, or adapts)?
We will be using the IPads this week as well but having information from home will help a lot!!! Start sending in some info when you can! :)
