Welcome back students and parents! I hope you all had a lovely, safe and relaxing break! Hope all the children are ready to be back at school for some fun learning!!
What Are We Up To?
- Language: We are working on procedural writing (to tell the reader how to do something (e.g. play a game, bake a cake, make a toy). We will be using descriptive language to help us describe how to follow the instructions as well as sequencing words we used when learning how to write a recount (First, Next, Then, After, Finally etc.).
- Math: We are working on Number Sense and Numeration- Addition and Subtraction (using strategies such as make 10, add by making doubles, counting on etc.), Algebra- addition and subtraction when there is an unknown variable (e.g., Ben had 8 toys. Sam gave him some more. now Ben has 12 toys. How many did Sam give him? 8 + __ = 12) ,
- Science: Matter and Energy in Our Lives
- Expectations:
- 1. Understand and assess uses of energy at home, school, and in the community and suggest ways to use less energy
- 2. Investigate how different types of energy is used in daily life.
- 3. Demonstrate an understanding that energy is something that is needed to make things happen, and that the sun is the principal source of energy for the earth.
- The Arts: Drama and Dance
- Religion: Preparing our hearts and journeying through the season of Lent in preparation for Easter.
- Phys. ed: Working on Movement Exploration through activities under the following categories
- Balance
- Jumping and Landing
- Transfer of Weight
- Rhythm and Movement
- Health: Making connections for healthy living; unhealthy habits and healthy alternatives (e.g., excessive screen time or video game usage, smoking)
These are our forgiveness cocoons. Inside each cocoon students have asked God for forgiveness from something that they have done. They understand that if we are sorry for what we have done God will forgive us.
During the time leading up to Easter we will discuss that Jesus died for us so that he would take away our sins.
